My definition of “complaining” is when we keep REPEATING a statement with increasing frustration and contribute to the problem with our negativity. It’s one thing to make a brief statement and release it without attachment. However, it helps to be mindful of HOW creation builds upon what we declare. It’s natural to express how we are feeling – good or bad! In life, there are pleasant and unpleasant experiences. Recently, I was repeatedly lamenting that “I don’t know what to do” in regards to a project challenge and ideas eluded me for months until I released that declaration. When I banished those words from my speech and thoughts, I stopped having writer’s block. In the past, when I used to repeatedly say “I have writer’s block”, I would very often get writer’s block. It made me think of how we often create our own problems and how complaining perpetuates them. It was a simple yet hilarious piece of performance art. He refused and held his hand-painted complaint even higher. People played along and told him to: PUT DOWN THE SIGN! The more he walked around and sighed, the more we laughed.
